'Happy people helping others' -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1

'Happy people helping others'

Sheila Jones from Jackson, Miss., wields a hammer like a seasoned professional. Her confidence and skill belie the fact that this is her first time on a build site. “It’s not as hard as it looks,” she says. “It’s easy to catch on.”

Volunteer Sheila Jones of Jackson, Miss., writes "God bless you" on the frame of an Operation Home Delivery house.

Moved by the stories of Hurricane Katrina victims, Jones was looking for a way to help out those who lost so much to the storm. She has found expression for her compassion in Habitat for Humanity’s Operation Home Delivery project.

“It feels good knowing that they’ll have a roof overhead,” she says.

Jones sums up the Habitat experience best by describing it as “a lot of happy people helping others.” Volunteers like Jones are giving of themselves this week to restore happiness and hope to many families along the Gulf Coast through Operation Home Delivery.
