Hurricane Rebuilding -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1

Hurricane Rebuilding

Care-A-Vanners will be needed for a long time in the hurricane-affected areas. According to HFHI CEO Jonathon Reckford, “We are committed to building at least 1,000 houses with hurricane-affected families by summer 2007 and then continuing to build as long as resources permit.” Habitat for Humanity has now raised $123 million for its Operation Home Delivery program.

Gulf Coast

Slidell, La., has scheduled 13 builds between April and October of 2007. We are in desperate need of team leaders for these builds. We do not want to send leaderless teams to this area because of the specialized work that is going on in the hurricane-affected areas. If you would be willing to be a team leader for one of these events, please contact the RV Care-A-Vanner desk at (800) 422-4828, Ext. 7534, for more details. The cost is $8 per night.

There also are openings for all Operation Home Delivery builds through April 2007 in Thibodaux, La. To sign up, contact the Care-A-Vanners office at (800) 422-4828, Ext. 2446. Full hookups $8 per night.

We are pleased to announce that Hattiesburg, Miss., has scheduled builds through June of 2007. This area was also affected by Hurricane Katrina. Please call the Care-A-Vanner office if you are interested in going to this area.

The St. Bernard Parish project is looking for RV volunteer administrative assistants, repair crew leaders and licensed trades people. Contact the Care-A-Vanners office for more information.

Florida

The Key West, Fla., affiliate needs volunteers for Hurricane Wilma cleanup and rebuilding. Contact Tony at (305) 872-4456 or e-mail info@habikeys.org.
